Art Inspirations

Playing: Animal Crossing: New Leaf (Desert Island Escape)
Craving: Hot Tea
Watching: Gundam Wing

Today wasn’t a bad day. Not a bad day at all. I took the bus at my usual time, got off, grab my morning coffee then up to my company’s floor I go. Work went by pretty fast. It was technically a slow day at work, but because of a slacker, I got extra work to do. I aint complaining anymore. The less work he does, the more work I get. LmAo.

During lunch time I noticed that the sky in downtown Seattle was hazy… Which is extremely unusual. I thought it was smog from pollution or something so I started glaring at all the single passenger drivers on the streets. Later, though, my brother told me the smog was actually smoke from wildfires up in BC. Whoops! Apparently the air is considered hazardous in certain areas in western Washington at the moment. Eek, this is when I wish I bought those fashionable K-pop masks so I can stay safe AND look fashionable at the same time D:

Anyways, the main thing I want to write about today is about inspirations. Have you ever heard this cheesy quote;

Surround yourself with people that reflect who you want to be and how you want to feel, energies are contagious.

Yeah… I always thought this quote was kinda stupid… and cheesy. But when I look back at myself in the past 10 years, the people I mingle with really did reflect me. When I first started hanging out on the internet, the anime community was really into web/graphic design. Guess what became my main hobby for the longest time; web/graphic design. Later, my good friend, Tsu, got really into drawing and so did I. So there was a time where I would draw a lot. Then later during college I met a ton of gamers, so gaming became the main thing for me. Unfortunately, the gaming community I mingle with became extremely toxic. I eventually fell out with the League of Legends community simply because the culture evolved into something that wasn’t me anymore.

Fortunately, more recently I’ve been meeting people that are.. positive? I guess you can call them people who inspire me to get back into being creative. I was browsing through my deviant art the other day and it made me miss drawing a lot. I can’t believe I used to spend hours on one sketch. It amazes me even more when people would spend weeks just perfecting one drawing. I sure hope I can be like that one day

Athrun & Cagalli fan art I drew back in 2008 for some contest.
My original Characters I drew for me and my friend. Mamoru (for me) is inspired by Tegoshi Yuya, and Natsume (for my friend) is inspired by Natsume from Gakuen Alice LMAO. “inspired”
Random Hitchhiking Girl. I actually like this one a lot.
Then here is the sketch I did today!

I’m actually happy with how she turned out. I decided to stay true to the model as practice and it ended up looking better than expected. I think I’m going to do this more often so I can learn how things should look. I KNOW ;_; I haven’t improved AT ALL after 10 years.. but hey, it’s never too late.. right? I’m going to try take things slow instead of rushing (like I always do). START FROM THE BASICS then do the complicated things later. I’m hoping to sketch something at least once or twice a week…We’ll see how this goes. I’m going to continue to keep myself inspired and motivated. I hope I don’t just abandon this again after a few days ):
