Visitors from Sacramento

I don’t know why but it feels like forever since I’ve written on here even though it’s been less than a week. This past week has been a long week. I’m not too sure why, maybe it’s because so much has happened? It’s weird how time flies when you’re having fun but a week/year/day goes by slower when things are eventful. Well.. that’s something to sit and think about lol.

So my friends from Sacramento came to visit us. Well, they actually flew up here to see the Eclipse but spent only the eclipse day in Oregon and the rest they spent up here in Washington with us! I love having guests, but sometimes when something is unplanned for, I can’t take days off. This past Saturday I took them around downtown Seattle. We went to get Chowder and took the bus up to Capitol Hill to find Bruce Lee’s grave. I might be a local but I’ve actually never been to Bruce Lee’s grave before. I the general area where it’s at but I didn’t know exactly where it was located so our trip there became a pretty long hike. Not that that was a problem though since the neighborhood in the area is pretty dam nice. Sadly, by the time we made it to the main entrance of the cemetery there was a sign saying that it’s closed until next week. What an anticlimatic moment lol.

highlight of my weekend

After the hike to Bruce Lee’s grave (that we didn’t even get to see), I took them to Capitol Hill and we had some Molly Moon Ice Cream. I got a double scoop this time because I wanted 2 flavors, Stumptown Coffee & Lavender. Both flavors were A M A Z I N G! I’ve always loved their Lavender flavor but this is my first time trying the Stumptown Coffee one and I LOVE IT.

Other places I also took my friends to eat at are Coco 2.0, Oasis Bubble Tea, Looking for Chai and Isarn Thai Soul Kitchen. The nice thing is, they treated me for the most outing so it’s nice not having to spend the extra cash since I’m literally super broke right now lol.

Now that they went home it’s time to sterilize my room and get it ultraclean again. =3= I’m such a germaphobe lol. I might be messy but I absolutely can’t stand dirtiness. (know the difference D:<)

Summer Gathering

This past weekend was my mom’s birthday weekend! It’s a tradition in our family that we do a summer gathering for her birthday. This year we had a food festival (when does my family not lol).

Ampy came over on Friday to stay over night. I was so happy! While she was doing her routine workout, I was playing Osu to provide ‘workout’ music for her. Then after she was done I had her try osu for the first time. My sister has pretty good sense of Rhythm so I thought she could handle 2 star songs right off the bat. But she was failing miserably .. LOL. So we went all the way down to less than 1 star song.. After 1 playthrough of that song, she finally understood how the game work. NOW she’s able to pass a 2 star song with no issues. I knew Ampy would be good at it! If only she would play with me more… I’ve still been trying to get her to play Animal Crossing with me ;- ; she said, “maybe when I get to Japan”. Wah, why wait. Why not now!!

Whoops, I kinda got off topic there. Let’s go back to the topic: summer gathering. We went to a Thai temple the next morning to ทำบุญ. It’s been awhile since I’ve been a temple. The last time I went is when my grandma on my dad’s side passed. I’m still sad about that… I don’t remember that last time I met her. If only I can meet her one more time, I’d thank her for being extremely welcoming and kind whenever we visit. For hand making these adorable stuffed animals that my sister and I loved dearly. I’m getting teary again ;- ;. Anyways, (almost got off topic again lol) the head monk there was making some interesting points. It’s hard for me to say this in English, but he’s pretty much talking to us about how to be an attractive(good?) adult.

A few I took away from his teaching was;
1. be polite; use polite language & manners
2. respect your elders
3. be kind
4. don’t lie; don’t cheat

Such a simple concept my parents raised me to with. I remember so clearly last year, there was a time I almost gave up on being an honest person. I didn’t see the point of being nice and honest anymore since it felt like I was always losing to the cheaters & the liars. But now I’m so glad I didn’t spiral down that path. I’m very lucky to have parents who only wish the best of me. Who had dedicated their life in raising me and my siblings to be a positive contribution to society. When I was younger I never realize how insane my parents are for raising 4 kids at a very close age. This year for my mother’s birthday, I want to let her know I truly appreciate her never giving up on us.

The BBQ time in our backyard was nice this year. Nothing awkward, just us 6 having a good time. Listening to old Thai songs while munching on BBQ food. My favorite BBQ food will always be portobello mushrooms, they look so gross and have black juice oozing out but they are SO GOOD.

Grilled Veggies!

In the end I got my mom a card for her birthday. It’s a pop-up card with a kitty & flowers! I hope she liked it…And I’m just going to end this awkwardly here because this post is over a week late 😀 Hehe.  -Waves good bye-

Greetings August

Happy August! July this year was actually pretty eventful. I already have a few things planned out as we move into August, so I sure hope it’s even more eventful than July!

I finished off my July by finally cleaning my room & bathroom. I was actually exhausted from work and just wanted to relax but…. I just couldn’t feel relaxed in my messy room so I suck it up and clean all the tea mugs from my bedroom, and clean the counter top for the bathroom. IT FEELS SO NICE WHEN EVERYTHING IS CLEAN.

Inspired by the lovely sugarcoatedkiss, I decided to start a bullet journal. I’ve looked at a few bullet journals online, and it reminds me a lot like what I used to do for my work/school planner. So I’m thinking of ditching my work planner and just use my bullet journal instead. I’m using a Moleskine knockoff notebook I got from Daiso ($1.50) and you know what, the quality isn’t so bad haha. The only downside is that the notebook is fairly thin so I doubt I’ll be able to fit the rest of my year in here. I want to see how Bullet Journaling works out for me first before investing in a more pricey notebook. I really hope this work out though, because it looks like a lot of fun to look back to!

Probably will add more stickers to the cover to give it more life 🙂

Today has been a fairly slow day at work. Our supervisor is out of office.. so one person in my team is taking advantage of that by afking from his desk for hours…(isn’t that a tad bit too much there young man?). Whatever, not my problem. At the end of the day, the numbers will reflect everything… we’ll see how long that can go on for.

I wasn’t so hungry during lunch today but I felt the need to get away from my computer desk… and I’m glad I did. I’ve been craving Bibimbap and guess what? The Bomba Fusion Food Truck was at Westlake Park today so I finally get to satisfy my Bibimbap cravings. If you’ve never tried Bibimbap before, I highly recommend it. It’s usually just sauteed veggies over rice but it’s AMAZING. I mean, you could also add meat on there, but I don’t think it’s needed 😀

Bibimbap

I know I say this a lot but, I really want to try document my daily life more often ): things got really busy at work in the past 2 months so I didn’t have time to write much, but I sure hope once everyone new in the team is all crossed train, I’ll get some time to breath and write more. “Why can’t you just write at home?” LMAO good point, I just like writing at work because it’s a good way to kill time >.> ye, I know I’m bad.

Music Under The Stars With Sister

HondaiMood: Happy

Craving: Bibimbap
Watching: Gundam Wing Ep. 5

I had a very nice outing with my sister yesterday! It was apparently the Seattle’s Chamber Music Society’s last day for their Music Under The Stars program which is a program where they play chamber music in the park for free, so my sister and I decided to go. The show starts at 7 but since there was a Seafair parade going on, I wanted to make sure I don’t run into any traffic issue. I mean, I also want to make sure I have a ton of time to spend with my sister because time goes by very very fast when we’re together, so might as well go as early as I can right?

So I ended up arriving in downtown Seattle around 3 PM, which was earlier than anticipated, because I didn’t run into any traffic issue (Thank god). Since my sister just got off work, we agreed to meet at sister’s place. At her place, I tried out the cookies she baked, sat, chat, chill for a bit. Then we finally admit that we were both STARVING so my sister suggested we check out Bai Tong up on Capitol Hill since it recently open.

Moscow Mule with Fried Pork & Egg Over Rice

We were so lucky we arrived just in time for happy hour. To take advantage of that, we both ordered the Thai Tea Moscow Mule ($6). The Moscow Mule was more on the sour side, in comparison to the other ones I’ve had, but I liked it a lot! It wasn’t too strong and the alcohol wasn’t overwhelming. As for the main dish I ordered the Fried Pork & Egg over rice ($11.50) from the Street Food Menu. I honestly don’t know what this is in Thai but it tasted a lot like Grilled Pork Neck. This dish was BOMB. A sour & spicy sauce was served on the side to compliment with the oily pork; this sauce definitely completed the dish. Oh and don’t forget about the Egg. The fried egg was prepared with a runny yolk so that added even more to the yum-factor. Ahh, I’ll definitely go back here again.

After the wonderful meal, we had a ton of time left before the show starts so we decided to walk to Volunteer Park instead of taking transit there. It was a pleasant walk as the weather wasn’t too hot. I’ve also never walked around that area before, so it was nice to see the neighborhood as a pedestrian. I wouldn’t mind living in that area, it’s seems pretty peaceful but not too far from the city.

Sister & Me

Once we made it to the park, we laid out  mat and settled down right before the show starts. During the show there was this one guy chatting with his friend about his life story and we all could hear him. A few of us was giving him the looks, but he didn’t seem to get the message. Finally the old man in front of us told him to quiet down because he’s here to listen to music, not him. THANK YOU OLD MAN, you are the MVP. The rest of the show was great! After the show my sister and I hung around and was playing with the handout they gave to the kids to keep themselves entertain during the show. There were also a few guys practicing juggling in front of us. Something I learn from eavesdropping them: juggling is serious business. lol

Anyways, I’m just rambling off now. I just wanted to write about this before I forget about something nice I did this summer haha. I’m gunna go continue watching Gundam Wing now(things are getting interesting) and also finish designing the office on HHD. I’ll probably fix all my grammatical errors tomorrow at work, or maybe not hahaha.
